In short: IMAP Cleanup Tool is a local-first application. It runs on your own computer and connects directly to the mail servers you configure. We do not operate any server that receives your emails, credentials, or usage data, and the app contains no tracking or analytics. Your data stays on your machine.
IMAP Cleanup Tool ("the app") is an open-source application published by Emirdev di Giulio Alberello ("we", "us"). You can reach us at support@imapcleanuptool.com. The source code is available under the AGPL-3.0 license on GitHub, so anyone can verify how it works.
The app is a tool you run on your device to manage your own mailbox. We do not host a backend service, we do not have user accounts, and we never receive or store your mailbox content, email credentials, or activity. Everything the app does happens locally on your computer or directly between your computer and the services you choose to connect to (your mail provider and, optionally, an AI provider).
The email server details and credentials (or OAuth tokens) you enter are stored locally on your device, optionally encrypted with a passphrase you set. They are used only to connect to the mail servers you configure and are never sent to us.
The app connects directly to your IMAP/SMTP server to list, move, delete, export, or unsubscribe as you instruct. Your emails are processed on your machine. We never receive your emails.
If you use the optional AI Cleanup feature, only a sender's subject lines and aggregated statistics are sent to the AI model you choose - never the message bodies. You choose the model:
Completion notifications and one-click "unsubscribe" messages are sent directly from the SMTP account you configure. They do not pass through us.
Through the app: nothing. There is no telemetry, no analytics, and no automatic reporting.
Through this website (imapcleanuptool.com): our hosting provider may keep standard, short-lived server access logs (such as IP address and requested page) for security and to keep the site running. The website does not use tracking cookies.
Depending on how you use the app, your data may go to services you select, each governed by its own privacy policy:
All app data (settings, connection profiles, local caches, logs, reports) is stored on your own device. Connection and SMTP profiles can be encrypted with a passphrase you control. Because the data lives on your machine, keeping your device secure is the best protection. Uninstalling the app removes the program; data you created in your user folder can be deleted by you at any time.
The app is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under the age required by your local law to consent to data processing.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest version, and the current text always lives at this URL.
